Heights pair honored

Wisconsin Heights boys basketball standouts De’Shawn Barsness (above) and Devin Brabender (right) were both named all-Capitol South Conference. Barsness received first-team all-conference honors, while Brabender was named second-team all-conference. The Vanguards finished the year 6-10.

When Beaver girls basketball Head Coach Mark Simon took his team to the State Tournament for the first time in the 2011-2012 season, New Berlin Eisenhower was the opponent and the Lions, led by the WBCA Player of the Year Nicole Bauman, had their way with the Beavers in a 47-28 D-2 state semi-final win at the Kohl Center in Madison.

RV/B’s Lorisa Shatrawka shows dedication in win at state

The River Valley/ Barneveld gymnastics team sent junior Lorisa Shatrawka to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association (WIAA) division 2 state competition on Saturday where she came away with a first place on balance beam and second on uneven bars in her third appearance at state.

Shatrawka takes first at state

River Valley/Barneveld gymnast Lorisa Shatrawka, a junior, took first place on the balance beam at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association (WIAA) division 2 individual state meet with a score of 9.20. The competition took place in LaCrosse on Saturday. She also placed second on the uneven bars this year with a score of 9.250.
