RAMC donates to Sauk County infant program

The Reedsburg Area Medical Center Foundation provided $2,250 to Sauk County Public Health for its Cribs for Kids program. The department, in collaboration with Cribs 4 Kids, provides safe sleeping spaces for children, as well as educates parents and caregivers on crib and sleeping safety. The program serves around 30 families each year.

Reedsburg library adapts to COVID-19

Coronavirus has driven the Reedsburg Public Library to adjust.

Due to high rates of the virus, the library has gone to a limited service model.

The library building is closed to the public except for certain services.

Patriot's Pen judging goes virtual in 2020

VFW Post 1916 conducted its Patriot’s Pen judging virtually on Nov. 16. Members of the Post and Auxiliary reviewed submitted essays from local sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. They wrote about this year’s theme, What is Patriotism to Me?

Veterans group receives $1,400

Donors were generous on Veteran’s Day in Reedsburg this year.

VFW Post 1916 reported that it received $1,400 in donations on Veterans Day. Veterans accepted donations outside Viking Village Foods and Quillin’s Quality Foods. The stores allowed the veteran volunteers to request money.

RAMC to set up Tree of Lights

Reedsburg Area Medical Center’s Tree of Lights is coming back this Christmas.

The tree is a way for people to remember loved ones while supporting education.

Participants purchase a light on the tree, and the money goes toward a scholarship.

Tree Lighting goes dark this year

Reedsburg won’t have a Community Christmas Tree this year due to COVID-19.

Organizers canceled the event after conferring with health professionals.

This is only one of a handful of local celebrations cut out due to the pandemic. Others chopped from the block include the Cookie Walk and Living Windows.

Rock Spring Library flips to curbside only

The Rock Springs Library has gone to curbside only due to COVID-19.

For more information, visit the library’s Facebook page or website, or call 608-415-2282 to request materials or arrange a pickup.

On Dec. 1, the library will waive fines for late materials. Charges still apply for lost or damaged items.

St. Peter's School says 'thank you' to veterans

St. Peter’s School honored former servicemen and women on Veterans Day with a special parade around the school. Students and staff held signs and decorations to thank the veterans for their service. It was the only commemorative event in Reedsburg, with schools and groups canceling their usual ceremonies due to COVID-19. (Submitted photos)

Deer population declines in city of Reedsburg

Measures continue to be in place to help control the deer population within the city limits of Reedsburg.

For the fifth consecutive year, Reedsburg residents and even non-residents can hunt deer during the current bow hunting season, as they long have the proper permit.
