Welcome back to the library!

Reedsburg Public Library staff looks forward to a busy summer inside the library and out, after over a year of changing service scenarios, and online programming due to the pandemic. The Library is now fully open with no mask requirement, and youth library programs have returned in person, under the tent!

Passersby may have noticed the large tent on the library’s south lawn which is now home to the library’s summer youth programs, from Babygarten, to Preschool Storytime to Teen Time. The tent, generously on loan from the Reedsburg Police Department, will allow youth and families to gather more safely during the transition to a post-COVID environment. A new portable voice amplifier will allow youth services staff to be heard outside. Masks are recommended but not required and physical distancing is encouraged.

A weekly schedule of youth programs for all ages has been posted on the Library’s website at reedsburglibrary.org. For those programs being hosted outside, you’ll notice the under the “tent” icon at the top of the page. The summer library program runs from June 6 through Aug. 14. Click on the title of each program for details and registration if required. Next week’s activities include the first session of the popular Preschool Players rehearsals and performances for ages four to five. Check the library’s website for the status of summer programs if weather conditions are threatening.

The Library is fully open and all services, such as public computer use, copying and faxing are available, as well as all collections. While masks aren’t required in the building, we will still require social distancing and customers may be asked to wear a mask for close-contact interactions, such as computer or device assistance.

In the youth area, children may sign out the Awe computer station as well as puzzles and games for in-library use. The items will be disinfected between customers. Visitors to the kids area should also take note of the showcase featuring grand prizes for the youth summer reading program!

It’s not too late for all ages to register for this summer’s Tails and Tales reading challenge on the Beanstack platform at www.reedsburglibrary.org near the top of the page. Create a username and password for your family and register family members for the age appropriate challenge. Little Farmhands is designed for reading with newborns to age 2, Safari Explorers for those entering preschool through fifth grade, and Deep Sea Divers for those entering sixth through twelfth grades. Virtual tickets earned at registration, at two week intervals, and completion may be redeemed for physical prizes at the library. The grand prize drawing will take place after Aug. 14!
