Broughton completes 1,000 Books before Kindergarten

Amelia Broughton, 2, is the latest 1,000 Books before Kindergarten finisher through the Reedsburg Public Library. Parents and guardians of children through 5 years of age can sign them up for this early literacy program. For more information, visit reedsburglibrary.beanstack.org.

Radio Auction pushed back

A major fundraiser scheduled for next year has already been affected by the pandemic.

Reedsburg Area United Fund announced that its annual Radio Auction, which is held every January, has been postponed.

Living Windows, Cookie Walk cancelled

Reedsburg’s holiday celebrations will be a bit sparse this year.

Distinctly Downtown Reedsburg’s Cookie Walk and Living Windows were cancelled due to COVID-19.

During the Cookie Walk, participants normally purchase a box and go from business to business to collect homemade Christmas cookies.

VFW holds Veteran's Day poppy drive

VFW Post 1916 will hold another poppy drive on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. Some VFW members will be at local businesses such as Viking Village Foods and Quillin’s Quality Foods. Due to the pandemic, the VFW has been limited in how many times it can do this drive.

Police investigate report of suspicious male near school

No one was hurt last week when Reedsburg Police investigated a report of a suspicious male near Sacred Heart School.

At 11:17 a.m. Oct. 29, the department was notified of a male running through the parking lot with a possible rifle slung across his back. The school didn’t report any direct threats or entry.

A National Guard COVID-19 testing date will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Reedsburg Fire Station, 131 S. Park St.

Community First donates $10,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs

Community First Bank has contributed $10,000 to benefit Boys and Girls Clubs in Reedsburg and Baraboo.

Locations will receive $5,000 each through a grant obtained from the Federal Home Loan Bank in Chicago.

Leaf pickup continues this month

City public works employees will collect leaves through Nov. 11.

Property owners should place leaves on the tree bank; do not put them in bags. Branches and other yard waste should go on a separate pile.
