County Board approves allocating funds for job training center

COVID-19 relief funds will go toward creating a training center in Sauk County.

Last week, the Sauk County Board of Supervisors approved a request to use $100,000 of American Rescue Plan dollars for the center, which will not only offer training and apprenticeship opportunities but also create family supporting jobs.

Sauk County sees high COVID-19 transmission rate

Sauk County is in the high category for the transmission of COVID-19.

This is the top-most level, with the next ones being substantial, moderate and low.

According to Sauk County Health Department data, there were 88 new cases between Aug. 8 and 14.

Sauk County begins Drive Sober campaign

Law enforcement agencies across Sauk County will be watching for impaired driving starting this weekend.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over begins Aug. 20 and continues through Labor Day, Sept. 6. The effort includes the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office and police departments in Reedsburg, Baraboo, Lake Delton, and Sauk Prairie.

Some plants’ fruit have been given special names other that the plant. Acorn, the fruit of an oak, is a classic example. Rose hip is another.

A hip, while a fruit, contains a great deal of accessory tissue.

As a matter of fact, an apple is also an accessory fruit.

New State Trooper to be stationed in Sauk County

More than 40 cadets have graduated to become Wisconsin State Patrol officers, and one of them will work here in Sauk County.

Jacob Salamonski, a Green Bay native, has been assigned here following last week’s graduation ceremony in La Crosse.
