Sauk County adds new death, more COVID-19 cases

COVID-19 has claimed another life in Sauk County.

According to the latest Health Department data, one person died from COVID-19 between Oct. 12 and 18.

There were 196 new cases in that timeframe and nine new hospitalizations.

Sauk County’s spread remains at a high level.

Bridge project makes headway

A bridge over the Wisconsin River connecting the Great Sauk State Trail in Sauk City to the Walking Iron Trail in Mazomanie is one step closer to reality with a combined $4 million investment from Sauk and Dane counties.

 Dane County Executive Joe Parisi and local officials announced the effort on Wednesday, Oct. 13.

SSM Health featured in coronavirus documentary

A COVID-19 documentary with a regional health care provider will air on NBC 15 this week.

“Behind the Mask” will be broadcast from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 14. Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Costas will narrate the special.

Testing site changes location due to demand

Increased demand for COVID-19 testing has forced a Baraboo site to change locations.

Starting Oct. 15, Baraboo testing will be done in the Circus World Museum parking lot, 550 Water St. Higher test numbers have resulted in more traffic, which necessitated the new location.

Coronavirus spread still high in Sauk County

Community spread for COVID-19 remains in the red for Sauk County.

According to the latest Health Department data, there were 229 new confirmed cases between Oct. 5 and 11. Eight people were hospitalized in that timeframe. Overall, 335 residents had symptoms or the onset of symptoms.

There were no deaths in the latest timeframe.

Equity Cooperative offers scholarships

Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association will award 10 $1,250 scholarships for college students and two $1,000 scholarships for students pursuing technical degrees or short courses.

Scholarships will be given for the 2022 academic year.

Book talk haunts Wonewoc library

The Wonewoc Public Library will host a presentation about the town of Baraboo’s haunted history.

It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18.

Local authors Shelley Mordini and Gwen Herrewig will discuss their new book, “Haunted Baraboo.”

Law enforcement seek info about man left at area hospital
