Area students make Dean’s List at UW-Whitewater

Top Tier Plumbing gave $5,500 toward the Splash Pad project, which has been in the works for years in Reedsburg. Top Tier’s dollars will go toward the water bug feature.

Gunther completes 100 Books before One

Enzo Gunther is the first infant to complete the Reedsburg Public Library’s Babies Bloom: 100 Books before One program. Babies Bloom encourages parents and caregivers to read 100 books to their child before they turn 1 year old. The goal is to encourage literacy through early exposure to reading.

Royal Bank provides $15,000 in COVID-19 relief

Toastmasters will meet Feb. 4

The Reedsburg Toastmasters group will convene at 6:25 p.m. Feb. 4 on Zoom.

Sauk County Clerk’s Office begins processing passports

Sauk County residents who need passports can now seek help from the Sauk County Clerk’s Office.

Passport business is conducted by appointment only. To sign up, call 608-355-3286. Appointments are generally scheduled between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, though time may be available outside these hours.

Rock Springs woman wins scholarship

Alexis Johnson of Rock Springs won a General Merit Scholarship from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Johnson is studying marketing.

Winners display academic excellence, co-curricular activity and community service. The college awarded nearly $2.2 million in scholarships.

Rock Springs students named to Dean’s List

Two Rock Springs natives earned a place on the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for the fall semester.

Autumn Klemm and Sarryn Luther are both studying animal science. They were among the 1,995 students who made the list.

Stanek column: Snowplow drivers deserve commendation

Early Tuesday morning, I arose with a sinus headache, only to hear the tell-tale beeps of the snowplow.

I peeked outside and there was the plow, working hard to clear the streets of a surprising amount of snow.

Missing child found safe after search

A Sauk County child was located in a barn after law enforcement mounted a search on Jan. 22.

At around 1:30 p.m. the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a child that went missing in the town of Woodland. The child, whose age was not released, reportedly walked away from how two hours prior and had not yet returned.
