Pickleball courts open at Nishan Park

Pickleball is best described as a combination of badminton, ping-pong and tennis. Players use a paddle that is reminiscent of ping-pong paddles, but is bigger and usually made of more advanced materials. The ball used is very similar to a plastic whiffle ball with holes covering the surface.

Lime Ridge Park blossoms after years of improvement efforts

A project five years in the making came to fruition this summer in Lime Ridge.

The tiny community’s park, located along Highway G, now has improved playground equipment, including some new features, as well as new benches. Some old plastic has been removed, and the current main playground piece has been painted.

Reedsburg woman wins Grocer of Year Award

The owner of Viking Village Foods has received the 2021 Woman Grocer of the Year Award.

Pam Coy will receive the award during the National Grocers Association Show in Las Vegas in mid-September. The Women Grocers of America made the announcement on Monday.

La Valle man faces 4th OWI charge

A La Valle man was arrested Aug. 25 on suspicion of DUI.

Just after 7:40 a.m., a Sauk County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Christopher Johnston, 40, near the intersection of West North and Trail streets in the village of La Valle. The deputy noticed the vehicle had expired registration, according to the Sheriff’s report.

Two area residents are among those who have received their diplomas so far this year from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Cody Steiner of La Valle completed a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Jenna Greenwood of Reedsburg earned a bachelor’s degree in clinical lab science-medical technology. She also graduated cum laude.
