Reedsburg alumni invited to play with Homecoming band

The Reedsburg Area High School Band will open its ranks during Homecoming Week.

Former band members and parents of current band members are invited to play with the band during the football game on Sept. 24.

This opportunity is open to RAHS and Webb High School alumni.

Jurgenson wins Lazy Beaver Canoe and Kayak Race

Two kayakers crossed the finish line Saturday within 10 seconds of each other but it was the trailing boat that was the winner of the 2021 Lazy Beaver Canoe and Kayak Race on the Baraboo River. Joe Jurgenson of Stratford completed the 11.7 mile race from La Valle to Reedsburg in one hour, 57 minutes.

The Hill and Valley Exploration Tour, normally kicks off this week and continues next weekend. Dates are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18-19 and 25-26. Admission is free.

Clendenning serves as university orientation leader

A scholar with local ties was selected to help new students adjust to campus life

Bria Clendenning spent the summer working with Jacksonville State University as an orientation leader to help students make the transition to college. These students help newcomers feel welcome at the school and help them find their place.

Races return to La Valle in 2021

After being cancelled by the pandemic in 2020, the Dutch Hollow Lake Races and Lake to Lake Challenge came back this year to challenge runners.

The eighth event was held Sept. 4. The weather was overcast with a few light showers, actually ideal weather for runners.

National Library Card Sign Up Month will be celebrated at Reedsburg Public Library this year with four special After School Family Library Card Sign Up sessions! Youth services librarians will host the event on Thursday, Sept. 9, and Tuesday, Sept. 14.
