They ate bugs for science

Sixth graders in Ms. Schlick’s class are currently researching and writing argument papers on why eating insects is beneficial.  They decided that if they were going to  “talk the talk”, they better “walk the walk”.

Weston Elementary celebrates Read across America Week

Students and staff at Weston Elementary School marked Read across America Week with Dr. Seuss-themed activities.This annual celebration of literacy takes place March 1-5.

Since Dr. Seuss’s birthday is March 2, his works are often featured.

The RAHS Choraliers Home Show took place this past weekend at the CAL Center. Three shows were performed in front of a limited audience of family and friends. The Choraliers had no competition shows this year due to the pandemic.

Reedsburg School Board approves in-person school for upper grades

All Reedsburg School District students will be back in the classroom as of April 6.

On Monday night, the School Board unanimously voted to return grades six through 12 to in-person education four days per week, with Wednesdays reserved for virtual education, intervention and additional assistance for students.

Reedsburg Area High School plans prom, graduation

There will be a prom and graduation for Reedsburg Area High School students in 2021.

RAHS Principal Rob Taylor outlined what’s been planned so far during Monday night’s School Board meeting.

Prom is set for May 1 at the RACA Building. Taylor said the location will allow for more distancing and open space.

RAHS will have new schedule next school year

Reedsburg Area High School will transition to a new model starting next school year.

It will go from a seven- to an eight-period day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursdays and Fridays will remain at block scheduling, and there will be no early release Fridays.

Spring means tapping trees and enjoying maple syrup at Merrimac

The students at Merrimac tapped maple trees and made their own syrup--then enjoyed their rewards with pancakes--just a week or two ago. Conditions were good with highs in the 40’s and lows around freezing. For more photos, see page two.

Group looks to promote Wisconsin Heights auditorium referendum

In the wake of a facilities referendum in the fall--one in which the District managed to cut 20 percent off the cost--Wisconsin Heights is now looking at a $7.5 million auditorium referendum.
