Above the Line

The May Above the Line theme was “Citizenship.”  On Thursday, May 13, the students listed below received awards from their classroom teacher or staff member who felt that they are an individual that demonstrates citizenship in and out of the classroom.  Congratulations to these students!

Vanguard Class of ‘21 graduates

The Wisconsin Heights Class of 2021 graduated last Sunday under blue skies outdoors on the football field. For the first time in over a year the bright smiles of students were visible at school. School ends soon for Reedsburg students

The school year will quickly conclude for Reedsburg School District pupils.

The last day for in-person classes is Wednesday, June 2. Kids in early childhood and 4-year-old kindergarten will attend for the last time on June 1.

Reedsburg Area High School graduation is Friday


The RAHS Class of 2019 tosses its hats at the end of graduation. Last year's ceremony was held outside, and the class was not together. Instead, each graduate arrived in a vehicle, collected diplomas at Webb Park and then departed. (Reedsburg Independent file photo)

RAHS seniors will receive their diplomas this week.

Graduation is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. May 28. The public will not be admitted this year, and each senior will only be allowed so many spectators. Face coverings will be required.

Wisconsin Heights digs in preparing for single campus

The Wisconsin Heights School District broke ground on a new $27 million single campus building on Monday, May 24, with everyone getting in on the ceremonial shoveling. Board members, administration, and even little students got their chance to dig in with silver shovels and make a start on the large construction project.

School Board axes masks, opens CAL Center

The face coverings are coming off after June 4 in the Reedsburg School District.

On Monday night, the School Board voted unanimously to make masks optional at the end of this school year. They are still required in the meantime.

Futures uncertain for Loganville, La Valle schools

Decreased enrollment has administrators wondering what might be next for elementary schools in Loganville and Ironton-La Valle.

At Monday night’s Reedsburg School Board meeting, members discussed latest trends and wondered if it was time to schedule more meetings on the subject.

Ground-breaking for $27 million Wisconsin Heights single campus to be held May 24

Wisconsin Heights School District is celebrating the start of construction with a groundbreaking event at Wisconsin Heights Middle and High School, with funding for the new building addition receiving community referendum approval on November 3, 2020. The ceremonial turning of the dirt will occur on May 24, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.

Towering houses of cards for Wisconsin Heights students

Students in Mrs. Acker’s class in Wisconsin Heights didn’t give up, they encouraged each other, and the end results were some tall towers. They realized that ‘playing’ with cards to build a tower required a plan, implementing ideas, and often starting over.
