SP High School students have “Reading Buddies” with Bridges First Graders

Around noon on September 28th, a small line of 1st graders from Bridges Elementary in Sauk Prairie made its way towards the main entrance of the High School. Little eyes brightened in wonder as they entered the two-story atrium of the school.

School district unveils food market for those in need

The School District of Reedsburg has launched a new effort to help those who are struggling to pay for food.

The Den opened Oct. 3 to provide free food for students, staff and residents. There are no income requirements and users need not complete applications.

Enrollment in Reedsburg schools drops only slightly


Third Friday Count figures show September’s School District of Reedsburg enrollment has decreased slightly as compared to the same time last year. Pupils were lost in Grades 1 through 12 but gained in 4-year-old kindergarten. (Reedsburg Independent file photo)

Third Friday Count numbers are in from September, and enrollment doesn’t look much different from the same time last year for the School District of Reedsburg.

The count shows the district had 2,684 students in September. Last September, the district tallied 2,693 students.

Wisconsin Heights “one campus” celebrated by community

On September 30th, residents from the Black Earth and Mazomanie community gathered with Wisconsin Heights board members and staff to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the One Campus project. Although the school opened for business weeks prior, Fridays event was a way for the community to hear the stories behind the project.

Weston sheep project wins grant

Weston School District students working with the school sheep project will benefit from the Grants for Growing program through the National FFA Organization and Tractor Supply Co. The money will go toward purchasing fencing material to expand the sheep pastures.
