Beastro and Barley, formerly Touchdown Tavern, continues to happily serve downtown Reedsburg

A long-time business in downtown Reedsburg underwent a name change this past fall and also adopted a different way of doing things.

Kari and Mike Walker had owned and operated Touchdown Tavern at 125 East Main St. since October of 2004 but they went in a bit of a different direction last year as Kari explains.

Two locations here in town are offering COVID-19 vaccines.

Toastmasters to meet April 15

The Reedsburg Toastmasters group will convene over Zoom at 6:25 p.m. April 15.

This group is committed to the many forms of public speaking, from speeches to jokes to table-topic responses.

Highway near Reedsburg qualifies for federal funding

A road project between Reedsburg and Baraboo will receive a portion of federal dollars set aside for improvements.

In 2022, Highway 136 will get money for resurfacing. Work will be done from Highway PF to Highway V and the West Baraboo city limit.

Regional scholars graduate from UW-La Crosse

Students from the area have earned their diplomas from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Reedsburg residents included Alexzandra Beesley, who graduated with highest honors with a bachelor’s in sociology and Cal Mazur, who earned a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Health Department continues to push masks

Although Gov. Tony Evers’s mask order has been overturned, the local health department is still encouraging residents to cover up.

According to Sauk County Public Health, wearing masks, washing hands and keeping distance help reduce the spread of infection.

Sauk County does not have a mask mandate.

Engel makes Dean’s List

Kaylee Engel of Reedsburg made the Dean’s List for the fall 2020 semester at Northland College.

Engel is a freshman at the college.

To qualify for the list, students must earn a GPA of at least 3.5.

COVID-19 variant found in Sauk County

An individual who tested positive for COVID-19 has been found to have a variant of the virus.

The test found the presence of strain B.1.427, which is considered a concern to the CDC. It was initially found in California in 2020.

Reedsburg Public Library will observe National Poetry Month and National Library Week with an Exploring Poetry presentation on Saturday, April 17, and a month-long library April Beanstack Challenge.
