Reedsburg church wins energy grant

A Reedsburg house of worship has received money to help it become more energy efficient.
St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church qualified for a $2,500 grant through Reedsburg Utility Commission. The funds were presented through the Utility’s program for nonprofits. The grants are open to 501(c)(3)s that want to purchase new equipment or start projects that qualify for Focus on Energy incentives.
Focus on Energy is a statewide program that offers information and financial aid to help residents, businesses and organizations find more cost-effective solutions.
“We are very grateful for this grant that helped us procure a new industrial refrigerator for the kitchen at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church,” said Pastor Beth Voigt of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. “The kitchen and equipment are used for parish gatherings, youth group events, funeral luncheons and other gatherings as they arise.”
