Around 200 students bid adieu to Reedsburg Area High School

The Class of 2021 took home its diplomas on May 28.

A limited crowd gathered to see about 200 students graduate in the Reedsburg Area High School Gym.

Graduation was initially set on Millennium Field but organizers moved it inside after a week of rainy weather. It was also unseasonably cold Friday night.

Reedsburg’s Pioneer Log Village reopens this year with Chicken Barbecue

The Pioneer Log Village stood silent in 2020 but that all changes this weekend.

The property, owned and maintained by the Reedsburg Area Historical Society, will reopen as concerns fade regarding coronavirus.

VFW members sell poppies during Memorial Day weekend

Shoppers may notice veterans outside selling poppy décor this Memorial Day weekend.

Members of Thurber-Greenwood VFW Post 1916 will do a poppy drive May 29-31. They will be at Quillin’s, Viking, both Kwik Trips and the BP gas station in Reedsburg.

Memorial Day ceremonies return this year

Historical Perspective: Armchair adventures of the past

During the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Stereoscope, also known as a stereopticon or stereo viewer, was a popular way to travel beyond one’s home without leaving the comfort of the parlor. A “traveler” would simply slip a stereo card into the viewer and the entire world would be at their beckoned call.

Adult summer library activities at Reedsburg Public Library

The Reedsburg Public Library is fully open and ready to welcome customers of all ages to the library. This week’s column will highlight programs for adults scheduled throughout the summer, and next week we’ll share more information about programs for youth.
