Black Earth Elementary site sold

The Wisconsin Heights School District is in the real estate market as it attempts to sell the Black Earth and Mazomanie Elementary school sites. On December 13, the board approved the purchase of the Black Earth Elementary site to TKSK Enterprises.

Merrimac Kindergarteners draw some cold-weather companions

After reading Madeleine Floyd’s Cold Paws, Warm Heart, Kindergarten students at Merrimac followed directions to draw their own polar bear. They blended chalk pastel to make the bear’s fur and quickly learned that chalk can get pretty messy! After cutting out their bear, students glued it to a snowy background they created with torn paper.

Above, Wisconsin Heights students braved three-degree temperatures to play in the snow recently. Above left, Ms. Backus at Wisconsin Heights doesn’t have her students measure snow depth. No....they measure how much their paperwhites grow overnight. They grow by inches from one day to the next!

Wisconsin Heights elementary principal changes on the horizon

A few changes will be coming to the elementary principals at Wisconsin Heights next year. With the new year and the combined campus, Scott Moore will take over as sole elementary principal. Current Mazomanie Elementary principal and curriculum director Dale Green will transition into District Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Director.

Weston construction students finish shed

Andy Niemeyer’s construction class at Weston High School ended its semester by building a shed.

In the beginning, the students learned about layout, framing and planning phases. They then considered associated costs and came up with an estimate and building materials list. From there, they began work on an 8’x10’ yard barn.
