Sauk County adds more COVID-19 positive cases, hospitalizations since last week

The number of positive coronavirus cases has risen since last Friday, a trend that’s continued for the last couple of weeks.

According to data provided through Sauk County, the number of positive tests increased by 38 as of Monday night. Since COVID-19 testing first began early this year, the county has had 1,030 confirmed cases.

Historical Perspective: Native American fun and games

A game known as Chunkey Stones was created by Native Americans around 600 A.D. in the Cahokia region near what is now St. Louis, Missouri.

Volunteers needed for Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels drivers are sought in Reedsburg, Baraboo, Sauk City and Prairie du Sac.

The Sauk County Aging & Disability Resource Center announced that it “is in great need” of people to deliver meals to the elderly and disabled.

Fermentation Fest wraps up this weekend

Fermentation Fest, notably the Farm/Art DTour, is still happening near Plain, Sauk City and Prairie du Sac.

The final day is Oct. 4.

This free, self-guided driving tour is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.

Caz Turkey Busters group releases fish

The Cazenovia Turkey Busters completed another project by releasing more than 500 walleyes in Lee Lake. The group partnered with the North American Walleye Club, which paid for the fish. This is the third year the organization has stocked fish. (Submitted photos)

La Valle Telephone meets with state leaders

Last week, La Valle Telephone Co-op invited Rep. Tony Kurtz, R-Wonewoc, and Sen. Howard Marklein, R-Spring Green, to tour a couple of sites where grants are being used to expand rural broadband. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin has issued grants to improve Internet access in the region, and LTC is reaching out to area residents.
