Extension unveils winter Coffee Chats series

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension will roll out Coffee Chats on Nov. 9.

The first session is scheduled at 10 a.m. virtually, and future chats will be held the second Monday of the month from 10 to 11 a.m. Chats will take place through March 21.

Sauk County’s second annual Indigenous Peoples Day was held Oct. 12 along the Riverwalk in Baraboo where the presence of more than 100 earthen burial mounds and a Ho-Chunk village were recognized.

Sauk County nonprofit qualifies for Packers Foundation grant

Beyond Blessed Food Pantry, based in Baraboo, is one of 237 charities across the state to qualify for a grant from the Packers Foundation.

On Monday, the organization announced that it will give out more than $1 million to help organizations affected by COVID-19. Overall, $1.75 million will be awarded this year.

Poll workers needed in Sauk County

The Sauk County Clerk’s Office has announced that municipalities are looking for citizens who’d like to be poll workers for the Nov. 3 Election.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and various shifts will be available.

Candidates must be at least 16 years old to apply.

Bridge closure delayed

The Highway 23 bridge over the Wisconsin River near Spring Green will not shut down until Oct. 26.

Initially, the DOT had planned to close the bridge for replacement on Oct. 19.

Once construction begins, the bridge will be closed to traffic. Alternate routes include Highways 14 and 130.
