Wrestlers take down sectionals

The River Valley High School varsity boys wrestling team took five boys to the sectional meet in Richland Center this past weekend in hopes of sending someone to state. In the past the top three competitors from each weight class would go on to state. This year only the top two went on.

River Valley boys basketball team suffers loss

The River Valley varsity boys basketball team suffered a loss against the Edgewood Crusaders last week. The Crusaders led from the start, closing the first half 34-18. This led to a final score of 39-68 Edgewood. Tyler Nachreiner led the Hawks with 10 points, followed by Landen Alt with nine.

Nominations sought for Wall of Honor

The River Valley Boosters are once again seeking nominations for inductees into the “Ted Lins Wall of Honor” located at the high school. Nominees should have contributed to the betterment of the River Valley schools since the school began in 1962. Applications are being taken now through April 1 and are available at the high school office.

River Valley girls basketball team resumes action

The River Valley High School varsity girls basketball team returned to play last week after a ten day recess due to COVID protocols. Many games were cancelled and rescheduled due to the recess. Last week the girls returned to play with four games in a single week.

River Valley/ Barneveld gymnastics team sees action twice

River Valley/Barneveld varsity gymnasts had a dual and an invite over the last week. They started with the dual against Dodgeville/Mineral Point/Iowa Grant on Monday. The girls from River Valley/Barneveld took home the win 127.225 to 122.050. “We had a great meet against D/MP/IG,” said River Valley/Barneveld head coach Julie Kuhse.

The Badger Lightning girls hockey co-op did some good things last week but the result was two losses and the end of the season for the squad consisting of players from several area high schools, including three from RAHS.

Weston girls knock off Ithaca again on basketball court before edging Seneca in OT

The Weston girls basketball team had to wait three days for their re-match with Ithaca but it was worth the wait as Weston won for a second time against the Lady Bulldogs, 49-44 in overtime at Ithaca Friday night as Tuesday’s original date was pushed back due to inclement weather.

Weston has been short-handed all season in the high school boys basketball season with a roster very low in numbers. Weston has had no more than seven players available for any game this year and more often than not, less than that. Weston only had five young men ready for action last Friday when they took the floor at home vs.

Beaver boys win on road but lose at home last week in hoops action

The Reedsburg Beaver boys basketball team entered Friday night looking for its first winning streak of the season as the Beavers posted a win at Baraboo on Thursday and were back on the home floor vs. Portage on Friday. The Warriors played a strong second half, however, and downed the Beavers to even the season series.
