Duo arrested on substance charges
A man and woman were taken into custody May 20 after the Reedsburg Police Department received a complaint about their vehicle.
Officers responded to the intersection of Third and North Locust streets just before 6:10 p.m. for a vehicle that was stopped in traffic. According to the Reedsburg Police Department report, the occupants were found drifting in and out of consciousness.
The driver, Christopher J. Beld, 32, of Deforest, was arrested for operating while intoxicated-first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. His passenger, Arielle C. Blume, 26, of Fitchburg, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Reedsburg Police Department.
The department has prompted authorities to encourage people not to get behind the wheel if they are impaired by alcohol, illegal drugs or medications. Alternatives include calling a responsible driver, cabs or Bar Buddies.
