Courtney and Zach Miller had an extra special New Year’s Day.

They welcomed Zoey Marie Miller at 6:18 a.m. Jan. 1. Zoey was the first baby of the new year born at Reedsburg Area Medical Center. According to RAMC, Zoey weighed eight pounds and was 20 inches long.

"She was such of an easy delivery,” said Courtney Miller.

Another community is joining Reedsburg’s municipal court system.

Reedsburg Common Council approved adding the Village of Loganville to its municipal court. Under the change, residents in the village can contest tickets or conduct other court businesses in Reedsburg. Municipal court is held at City Hall.

Numerous scholars with local ties earned honors at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for the fall 2021 semester.

More than 2,350 students were on the list.

Thurber-Greenwood VFW Post 1916 and Thurber-Greenwood VFW Post 1916 Auxiliary just completed its Patriot's Pen Voice of Democracy contest. This year’s theme was America: Where Do We Go from Here? Scholarships were presented at the Thurber-Greenwood VFW Post by the VFW and the VFW Auxiliary at the VFW Breakfast on Sunday, Dec.

Kimberly Vazquez has made the President’s List at the State University of New York at Potsdam.

She is from Reedsburg and is majoring in biology. She was among 887 students who achieved academic excellence during the fall 2021 semester.

Jay’s Power Center will present this year’s Midwest Racers’ Expo.

The event will be held Jan. 7 and 8 at the former Shopko building on Main Street. Jay’s purchased the property last year.

Two residents were taken into custody around the holidays.

The next Reedsburg Community Blood Drive is set for later this month.

It’s scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Recreation Center, located in the basement of Reedsburg City Hall.
