Reedsburg Public Library’s Monday Movie Matinee and the community Reading is Family Fun Night lead the library’s schedule of events for next week. The Monday Movie Matinee for adults will be held on Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., and will feature one of Sydney Poitier’s most famous films.

Community Choir starts up again

The Reedsburg Area Community Choir has begun rehearsals in preparation for its spring concert.

Newcomers are welcome to join or bring others along to try it out.

The choir meets at 6:30 p.m. Sundays at St. John Lutheran Church, 307 Sixth St.

The spring concert will be May 8 at the CAL Center.

City offers sand to property owners for sidewalks

Property owners who are trying to keep their walkways clear may take advantage of an offering from the City of Reedsburg.

A large bin of sand has been placed at the Boys and Girls Club, 300 Vine St., for residents to use on their sidewalks.

Locals finish semester with perfect GPA at UW-Platteville

Some students who made the Dean’s List also were part of the Chancellor’s List at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Students who finished the fall 2021 semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA receive this extra distinction.

On the Same Page: Digital materials popular at Reedsburg Public Library

According to a recent article on the Wisconsin Public Radio website, Wisconsin residents borrowed 7.2 million ebooks and audiobooks last year from public libraries, “an impressive feat for a state with just under six million people.” Reedsburg Public Library’s annual report supports the statewide statistic.

Sauk County Public Health provides N95 masks

Residents in Sauk County can obtain free N95 masks from multiple locations in the area.

In Reedsburg, masks can be found at the Reedsburg Public Library, Sacred Heart Church and School, Church of God, United Methodist Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church and Reedsburg Food Pantry.

Reedsburg student makes Dean’s List at UW-Madison

Connor Schyvinck of Reedsburg made the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the fall 2021 semester.

He is studying meat and animal science, and had a GPA of 3.5.

He is among multiple locals who made the Dean’s List. Those students were listed in a previous edition of the Reedsburg Independent.

Public Health holds information sessions on COVID-19 vaccine

Sauk County Public Health has scheduled a series of question-and-answer sessions about the COVID-19 vaccine.

The closest one to Reedsburg will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. March 8 at the Public Library. Other gatherings are planned in Wisconsin Dells, Sauk City, North Freedom and Spring Green through April.
