Senior citizens are invited to attend a special breakfast with Weston School District Administrator Gary Syftestad.
The meal will begin at 8:15 a.m. May 1, and will take place in the Weston School Cafeteria. There is no cost to attend and registration isn’t required.
The Wisconsin Heights School District held their 5-year progress report on their Future Search. Heights’ original search for strategic directions, conducted five years ago almost exactly, left both board members and administrators with a set of clear goals.
Ms. Baldwin’s 1st grade class at Bridges Elementary met Sam from Snake Discovery, in Minnesota, who made the long trip to Sauk Prairie with a few of his friends. Those slithery friends got to interact with Ms. Baldwin’s class.
Wisconsin Heights sixth graders were shipwrecked on an island and had many choices to make using evidence and deductive reasoning. All choices had to be justified before seeing the results of their choices.
Not everyone was successful, but it was fun for all.
Sauk Prairie Show Choir Director Matthew Brennan called the most recent season “fantastic.” Executive Session’s set featured music from the movie The Greatest Showman, and YTBN’s set featured music from the movie Moulin Rouge.

The Wisconsin Heights School Board meeting on April 10th dealt primarily with employee relations—specifically with contract negotiations concerning base pay and health insurance. The board scheduled the meeting early to allow the staff a chance to speak at the meeting.
District Superintendent Jeff Wright gave an overview of the financials for the facilities referendum and Leola Hall project at the Sauk Prairie School Board meeting April 10th. Wright reported the referendum total as $49,583,351, with anticipated costs to be $49,536,573.
Students at Merrimac Community School checked out the fresh prescribed burn of the school forest. A well-managed, prescribed burn was used to restore this area to its natural habitat. The burn was done on a day with no school.
Wisconsin Heights 7th graders made their way to the Milwaukee Public Museum recently. It was an educational experience that brought to life their learning from 6th and 7th grade curriculum.
