COVID concern increases in Sauk County

Sauk County Public Health is asking the public to help bring COVID-19 numbers back down.

Numbers are ticking back up after what seemed like a respite from the disease. Due to recent increased hospitalizations and cases, Sauk County has risen from low levels to the medium setting.

Historical perspective: Airmail service arrives in Sauk County

A headline in the Aug. 1, 1924, Reedsburg Times Press announced “Air Mail Arrives at Local Office – Letters Are Received Here Bearing Post Mark of New Transcontinental Postal Service.”

After the transcontinental railroad became a reality, it took 108 hours for a letter to go from New York to the West coast.

Madison College joins agreement to expand nursing education

A new transfer agreement between Madison College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing will help address nursing workforce needs by creating greater access to nursing education. In addition, it will support the need for more bachelor-of-science-prepared nurses in health care and improve public health in Wisconsin.

Sauk County will hold Respect for Law Day

Sauk County building closes for training

The Sauk County Courthouse and West Square Building in Baraboo will be closed May 6.

The public will not have access from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. due to employees doing a full-scale training exercise.

Cooperative names best-performing animals through February

South Central DHI has released its list of top-producing cows through February.

The best Holstein came from Bells Udder Farm in Camp Douglas. P-3066 produced 35,463 pounds of milk that tested at 4.6 percent and 4128 cheese yield.

Sauk County residents can find out about Medicare

A free presentation about Medicare will be offered to Sauk County residents in May.

The event, I’m Medicare Eligible/Turning 65: Now What?, will begin at 4:30 p.m. May 17 at the Sauk County West Square Building, Room B30, in Baraboo. It is tailored for people who are considering retirement, turning 65 or starting Medicare.
