Beavers lose close one to Fort Atkinson in boys basketball

Last Tuesday was a rarity for the Beaver boys basketball team. Reedsburg met the same opponent for the second straight game as Fort Atkinson paid a visit to the RAHS gym after the Beavers dropped a 60-41 decision at Fort four days earlier in their most recent game.

The Reedsburg Beaver wrestlers were set to face Mineral Point last week in its third dual meet of the season but a schedule change resulted instead in a trip to Westfield and a dominating 59-6 dual victory.

Weston girls hoopsters fall at unbeaten Wauzeka

Wauzeka’s hot perimeter shooting and effective pressure defense put Weston in a hole early and the Silver Eagle girls basketball team could not recover as Wauzeka posted a 73-30 Ridge and Valley Conference win on their home floor last week.

The River Valley High School boys wrestling team traveled to Viroqua last Tuesday night for a non-conference dual meet. River Valley won the meet over Viroqua 37-30.

Four games into the young season, it’s clear where Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball team will hang its hat this winter. “The identity of our team is our defense,” Eagles coach Sean McGann said. “We hold the standard very high on that end of the floor, and this group is so coachable.” Boy, are they ever.

Sauk-Heights swimmers post big win

Madison Edgewood’s boys swimming and diving team has won back-to-back WIAA Division 2 state championships. Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights knocked out the champs, though, on Dec. 15. The Eagles finished first in six of 11 events and used their superior depth to topple the Crusaders, 100-68.
