Wrestlers in quad dual hosted by Prairie du Chien

The River Valley High School boys varsity wrestling team traveled to Prairie du Chien last Friday night for a quad dual with three other teams. River Valley faced Lancaster, Prairie Du Chien and Richland Center. In the dual with Lancaster the Flying Arrows won 60-18. In the dual with the Prairie du Chien Blackhawks, Prairie won 57-19.

Jennings hits 100 wins

River Valley wrestler Jimmy Jennings recorded his 100th career win at the quad dual last Friday night. Jennings won the match by major decision over state qualifier Luke Kramer of Prairie du Chien. “Jimmy has been such a great part of our program over the last four years and he will surely be missed,” said River Valley co-head coach Dan Machovec.

River Valley/Barneveld hosted the first COVID Invite this past Saturday. Originally the girls were going to travel to Platteville for the invite but at the last minute it was rescheduled for February 6.

Sauk Prairie’s year in sports

Thrilling victories. Magnificent individual performances. Memories to last a lifetime. These are the norm inside the sports programs at Sauk Prairie High School. But there was nothing normal about 2020. The sports world came to a screeching halt on March 12 due to COVID-19. And it wasn’t until August that sports started again at Sauk Prairie.

Girls basketball team wins a pair

Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team won a pair of games last week and improved to 3-1 on the season. The Eagles defeated River Valley, 59-11, on Dec. 29. Sauk Prairie then downed Baraboo, 60-40, on Dec. 30.

Weston boys basketball season still on pause

Weston’s high school boys basketball team has had some players in quarantine for the past couple of weeks so recent games vs. Wauzeka, Cassville, Ithaca and LaFarge have been postponed. It’s now been determined that games this week vs. New Lisbon and Wonewoc-Center on Monday and Tuesday have been cancelled with a Jan. 7 home tilt vs.

Reedsburg, Badger Conference to argue to WIAA against football realignment this week

The WIAA released a football only realignment proposal under consideration for the two-year cycle of the 2022-2023 seasons last month that would alter the look and composition of 21 separate conferences even though only 11 schools have their request currently under consideration.

Reedsburg girls hoopsters roll on with 2 wins after long lay-off

The Reedsburg Beavers had not played a varsity girls basketball team since Dec. 10 entering last week due to COVID-19 issues at other schools and inclement weather but finally, Coach Mark Simon’s crew got to take the floor for the first time in 19 days last Tuesday at Watertown.
