Shatrawka takes first at state

River Valley/Barneveld gymnast Lorisa Shatrawka, a junior, took first place on the balance beam at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association (WIAA) division 2 individual state meet with a score of 9.20. The competition took place in LaCrosse on Saturday. She also placed second on the uneven bars this year with a score of 9.250. Madi Kogler, a senior from Whitefish Bay, came in second on the beam with a score of 9.175 and Cassi Hansen, a sophomore from Nicolet, placed third with a score of 9.510. As a freshman, Shatrawka was the beam state champion in 2019 and placed 18th on the beam last year at state. She placed fourth in a three-way tie last year on uneven bars, also competing on vault, coming in fourth, balance beam with an 18th place finish, the floor exercise with a second place finish and fifth place in the all-around. In addition to her first place performance in 2019, she competed in all of the individual events as well as the all around competition finishing on the vault for ninth place, on the uneven bars tying for seventh place and in the floor exercise she finished in third place.
