Winter sports teams at high-school level get rolling this week

This past weekend brought a touch of winter weather to the state of Wisconsin so perhaps it’s appropriate that the high school winter sports season gets rolling this week for area girls basketball teams, hockey teams and gymnastics squads with pre-season workouts.

River Valley was well represented in All-Conference voting for boys soccer

Nine players from a strong River Valley Blackhawks boys soccer squad were accorded All-Conference recognition as recently announced by the Southwest Wisconsin Conference. River Valley was 4-3-1 in league play this season to finish second place, trailing only champion Platteville/Lancaster with a mark of 7-0-1 in conference action.

River Valley enjoyed a fine season on the volleyball court and several Blackhawk girls were recognized as the All-Conference teams in the SWC have been announced after recent voting took place.

Silverwolves football sees 3 players added to All-Conference list

An improved Wonewoc-Center/Weston Silverwolves Football co-op won three league games this season in the Ridge and Valley Conference eight-man Division and some of the top players from the final-ever edition of Silverwolves Football earned All-Conference recognition for their efforts on the gridiron.

The Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells/Mauston boys high school hockey co-op was led last season by program alum Jeramy Greenwood, who served in an interim head coaching role after long-time coach Neil Mattson stepped away prior to the season.

Weston sees its volleyball season end at Wauzeka

Weston’s volleyball season came to a closer in round one of the WIAA D-5 Playoffs last Tuesday with a 3-0 loss at conference rival Wauzeka as Weston, the 10 seed in their half-sectional grouping, lost at the seven-seed Wauzeka.

Justin Kuhnau expresses excitement to lead Beaver boys basketball

A new era for Reedsburg Beaver boys basketball begins with the upcoming 2025-2026 season as RAHS alum Justin Kuhnau takes over as Head Coach. Kuhnau will replace another Reedsburg alum, Ty Horkan, who coached the past two full seasons but is now stepping away to concentrate more on the business world.
