The WIAA State Cross Country Meet was held Saturday at the Ridges Golf Course in Wis. Rapids with River Valley High School sophomore Mollie Maes one of over 150 girls runners competing in the D-2 race.
In week one of the high school football playoffs, the Reedsburg Beavers jumped out to a 21-3 lead against Waterford on the way to a fairly comfortable 49-24 victory, led by a record setting rushing performance from Will Mikonowicz and tremendous work from his offensive linemates.
Reedsburg met state-ranked Sauk-Prairie for the second consecutive Tuesday last week in the WIAA Tournament opener for both teams with the Beavers realizing the end of their 2025 season with a 7-0 loss in WIAA D-2 Regional play.
Sophomore Mollie Maes from River Valley High School qualified for the WIAA State Cross Country Meet in Girls D-2 with a ninth place overall finish at Saturday’s WIAA Sectional Meet in Wis. Rapids. For the second year in a row, the River Valley Blackhawks will have a girls runner competing at the WIAA State Cross Country Meet. Last year, Brielle Grant, as a sophomore, was able to qualify but Grant was unable to run this year in the WIAA D-2 Sectional Meet in Wis.
It might be safe to say that no player in Reedsburg Beaver football history, at least in the modern era, had a more productive night on the field than senior Will Mikonowicz did on Friday when the Beavers opened the post-season with a home game in the WIAA D-3 Playoffs against the Waterford Wolverines at Millennium Field.
The post-season began on a positive note but ended on a sour note for the Reedsburg Beaver volleyball team. Reedsburg opened the WIAA D-2 Playoffs with a win over Mauston before seeing the season come to a close two nights later in Mosinee.
The regular season ended with disappointment for the River Valley Blackhawks on the football field as back-to-back losses ended R-V’s hopes of a conference championship, but the Blackhawks looked to wipe the slate clean last Friday as the WIAA D-5 Playoffs began.
