Sophomore Deakin McDonough and freshman Luke Osborne represented Weston High School in the D-3 boys cross-country race at the Prairie du Chien WIAA Sectional Meet on Saturday with McDonough placing 68th overall and Osborne 108th in a field of over 120 runners on Saturday.
On Thursday last week, River Valley played Mayville in their first regional game of the WIAA Tournament series in boys soccer action and posted a convincing 5-0 win.
WIAA Tournament play began last week for all high school girls volleyball teams across the state with River Valley opening WIAA D-3 Regional play on the home floor Thursday against Belleville. R-V is the four seed in their half-sectional grouping with Belleville the five seed with River Valley coming out on top in a four-set match.
Platteville High School was the site for Thursday’s SWC Cross Country Meet and for at least two River Valley runners, it was a day of recognition with Mollie Maes and Nathan Hamilton earning All-Conference honors for their efforts.
Before week eight of the high school football season, the River Valley Blackhawks sat alone atop the SWC football standings with a 5-0 conference record and a 6-1 overall mark, riding a six-game win streak and the vibes around the program were strong and the confidence was certainly at a high level.

The vibes are good right now with the River Valley Blackhawks on the volleyball court as R-V enters the post-season riding a three-match win streak, which included impressive wins last week against Richland Center and Dodgeville, both 3-0 sweeps.
Since Sept. 11, the River Valley Blackhawks have lost only one of 14 matches on the soccer pitch, an incredible stretch to end the season and that success rate continued this past week with a tie and a win in the final two conference matches of the season.
Reedsburg will take some momentum into the post-season on the volleyball court after the Beavers traveled to Monona Grove on Tuesday last week and swept the Silver Eagles as part of the Badger Challenge in the final regular season match of the season.
