It will be a new face on the sidelines and some new faces on the court this season for the Reedsburg Beaver boys basketball squad as the Beavers get ready for the season opener this Friday.

Another season for the Ithaca/Weston High School Wrestling co-op is ready for lift-off with the regular season beginning Dec. 11 at the varsity level. Troy Clary, Kyle Kelly, and Marcus McCauley return as coaches for the boys, with Skyla Wanless taking over the girls team. 

Ithaca/Weston opened this week with a loss in girls basketball action at Ithaca High School, falling to Belmont, 69-42, in non-conference action on Monday night.

River Valley faced perhaps their most difficult opponent all season in the very first game of the boys basketball season with a home contest against state-ranked Mount Horeb, a D-2 school and the pre-season favorite in Badger Small. Mount Horeb sent the Blackhawks to a loss, 73-45, in the season opener.

River Valley matched up well with each of the first two opponents they encountered in the just underway high school girls basketball season, but in game three, the Blackhawks faced one of the top teams in Wisconsin, Argyle-Pecatonica.

For the first time, the Reedsburg Beavers will have their own separate girls wrestling squad this year, and Coach Caylee Fry, a Beaver Wrestling alum herself, is excited about the 2025-2026 season.

Close but no cigar for the RWD Miners boys high school hockey co-op in the season opener last week as the Aquinas Avalanche came to RACA in Reedsburg and came away with a 4-2 victory.

No Reedsburg Beaver Wrestling Team had ever won four conference titles in a row but the Beavers are currently on such a streak and last year’s group also accomplished the feat of earning a WIAA State Team Tournament berth for the second time in three years.

After a rough night against one of the state’s top D-3 girls basketball teams last week in Wisconsin Dells, the Reedsburg Beaver girls basketball team bounced back last Tuesday and improved to 1-1 for the young season with a convincing 55-38 win over Tomah at RAHS.

The season opener was not what the members of the Badger Lightning area high school girls hockey co-op were hoping for in a 4-0 loss to Coulee Region last week in Baraboo.
