Nature and Society, Jan. 15, 2026

It was a vacation to remember! My daughter and her family took me along with them when they travelled to Southern California for a week of warmth. We spent the week in a lovely house on the very edge of the sea.

Letter: We are not safer

ICE is not making the country safer; not making big cities safer with 5,000+ ICE agents searching the streets. Maybe they’re looking for actual criminals, but most times are terrorizing the civilian population, with suspects being anyone non-white, or with an accent, or trying to warn others that ICE is in the area.

The Court decided to hear a case, brought by Voces de la Frontera v. Gerber. The court will decide if Wisconsin sheriffs have the power under Wisconsin state law to honor immigration detainers.

Letter: Blood drive donors save lives

The River Valley Community, once again, stepped up to help those in need. 90 units of blood were collected on January 2nd and 2 were from brand new donors. These donations have the potential of saving the lives of 270 people!

We would like to thank Christ Lutheran Church for generously providing us with the use of their facility.
