Letter: Campaign promises versus reality

In response to recent actions by ICE agents and the current administration's reaction to them. I think I see what I see or am I not seeing what you wish me to see? Or are you refusing to see what you see or are you embarrassed by what you see? The carnage and lies of the current administration must be stopped.

Letter: Rich get richer, regardless of who’s in office

In the January 8 issue, Mr. Naebig of La Valle quoted Fortune Magazine that during 2025, 92 more billionaires were created and our country's richest, added 2.2 trillion to their wealth. This may be true, but let's look at the 4 years during President Biden.

Letter: Be careful who you owe

24% of the US debt is owned by foreign investors.

Japan owns $1.13 trillion; the United Kingdom owns $807 billion; China owns $750 billion. The US debt is $38 trillion.

President Trump has added trillions of debt with his “Big Ugly” giveaway to the rich.

Letter: Are we great again yet?

To the MAGA supporters out there.

I have a hard time understanding why America is now great again after one year of the second term of Trump's administration. My questions are:

1. Are we great now because the federal government can now come in and kill innocent  human beings without due process?

Letter: Illegals thrive while schools suffer

Why are so many people still ignoring the facts about our federally-created immigration crisis and its unrelenting damage to our society?

Marilyn Kinsman-Kharbush, based on her recent letters, apparently has a problem with maintaining the rule of law and our sovereignty.

Nature and Society Jan. 29, 2026

Winter is a most inconvenient season. Snowy roads, icy steps and bitter cold. In so many ways, Mother Nature is trying to kill us. It was 20 below when I got up this morning and the house isn't much better because I have to leave the door to the greenhouse open when it's this cold so all my dear little plants don't freeze.

Clergy Corner Jan. 27, 2026

I forgot Valentine’s Day! I had no excuse. There were plenty of reminders.

My wife asked, “Should we go out to eat or to a movie for Valentine’s Day next week?” and “Wouldn’t that make a good gift for Valentine’s Day?” Still, I forgot Valentine’s Day.
