River Valley won a match, lost a match and tied two others in a busy opening week of the regular season to close out the month of August.

Meet No. 1 is in the books for the Reedsburg Beaver cross country teams as Reedsburg was part of Saturday’s field at the Iowa-Grant Invite.

The competition season is just one day old for the Reedsburg Beaver volleyball team, and the girls have already earned some hardware. Reedsburg won all five matches on Saturday to win the championship at the Wisconsin Rapids Invitational.

Reedsburg came up short against two quality opponents last week on the tennis court as the Beavers fell 7-0 to Onalaska and 5-2 vs. McFarland in the conference opener.

The school year is just beginning this week, but the Reedsburg Beaver girls golf team has already competed in multiple meets and that trend continued last week.

The high school cross country season is underway for the River Valley Blackhawks and the first day of the competition season was a good one at Saturday’s Gale Johnson Kick-Off in West Salem.

It certainly was a busy weekend of volleyball to kick off the season for the River Valley Blackhawks, with seven matches over two days at UW-Stout. R-V wound up winning four of the seven matches and placed 19^th overall among 40 teams that were in action.

The offensive unit failed to score a touchdown in week one for the River Valley Blackhawks football team, which was a loss to Evansville, but in week two, the Blackhawks offense found the end zone six times and evened up its record at 1-1 for the season with a convincing 42-17 win over the Wisconsin Dells Chiefs in Spring Green.

The River Valley/Lodi/ Wisconsin Heights Girls Swim team opened the season on Aug. 23 by winning the Milton Invite after the Annual Alumni Meet two days earlier. The team score of 398 was 60 points better than runner-up Milton to top the field of 11 teams.

The 2025 campaign is now underway for Reedsburg Beaver boys soccer after the first two matches are in the books from last week.

Reedsburg opened the season by playing to a 0-0 draw on the home field last Tuesday against Sparta. As the score would indicate, the teams were evenly matched and the game played out that way.
