It was a good news, bad news situation for the Reedsburg Beaver girls tennis team this past week. West Salem topped the Beavers, 5-2, to begin the week but Reedsburg came back to rout Portage, 7-0, in conference action.

River Valley stomps Brodhead-Juda to begin SWC football season

After a rough season opener against a strong team from Evansville, the last two weeks have featured a lot of positives for the River Valley Blackhawks Football team. R-V handled Wisconsin Dells in week two before the Blackhawks opened conference play last week in the SWC with a convincing 42-12 win at Brodhead-Juda.

Silverwolves fall to De Soto, still looking for first win

The good news, three touchdowns were scored by the Wonewoc-Center/Weston Silverwolves football co-op on Friday night, a season high. The bad news, it wasn’t enough to earn a victory as De Soto left Wonewoc-Center High School with a 42-18 win in eight-man football from the Ridge and Valley Conference.

River Valley loses league opener but downs Wisconsin Heights on soccer field

It was a week of mixed results in the world of River Valley Blackhawks boys soccer.

R-V opened the week with a strong effort and a 2-0 win over Wisconsin Heights Tuesday, but the Blackhawks fell in the conference opener on Thursday, 1-0, at Platteville/Lancaster.

River Valley girls run well at Viroqua Cross-Country Invite

Thursday was a good day, especially on the girls side, for the River Valley Blackhawks on the cross-country course for Coach Steven Stettler’s squads. The girls placed fourth in team scoring among the 10 full teams while the boys placed 10th among 11 full teams at the Vernon County Fairgrounds, site for the Viroqua Invite.

Weston now 2-0 to start girls volleyball season

Two matches are in the books, and two wins are in the books for the Weston Silver Eagle Volleyball team as Weston followed up a win over Coulee Christian with a 3-2 victory at La Farge to begin the conference season last Thursday.

Golf League approaches playoffs

Floggers, Culver’s and First Weber finished as the top three teams, in that order, in the Monday Night Men’s Golf League at the Reedsburg Country Club.

Dave Fuhrnman has the individual lead for the season with 20 points in the Stableford scoring system.

The playoffs are now in play as the regular season has come to a close.

Reedsburg woman plays for UW-Whitewater soccer team

She has since graduated and is now attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where was selected to play for the women’s soccer team. She is pursuing a degree in education. A Reedsburg Area High School graduate is part of this year’s women’s soccer team at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Nicole Riberich of Reedsburg is part of the team this season, which began Sept. 1.

Riberich is studying elementary/middle education.
