Weston Boys Basketball with 12 games coming up in 3 weeks

Weston played none of their three scheduled boys basketball games this past week as the program goes through a transition with three weeks remaining in the regular season. AD Maggie Landsinger sent this statement on Friday.

River Valley girls win a pair outside the league on the basketball court

Despite being a bit sloppy and careless with the ball at times, the River Valley girls eventually cruised to a 64-40 non-conference basketball win on Tuesday night over Boscobel in Spring Green.

River Valley gymnasts compete twice at Dodgeville

River Valley scored over 108 team points at Saturday’s Dodgeville Gymnastics Invite, placing them last among the eight teams in overall scoring. Dodgeville’s team mark of 138.75 put them atop the field on Saturday.

PHOTO: Badger Lightning raises money for charity


On Friday, Jan. 9, the Badger Lightning hosted its annual Cancer Support Night at the Poppy Waterman Rink in Wisconsin Dells. The team played Brookfield Glacier and came out a bit short in the 2-3 loss. The team and families hosted a Chuck-A-Duck along with a bucket and 50/50 raffle to raise money for the local Spencer Johnson Schell Cancer Support Team. Beavers fall at Mount Horeb in girls hoops action

Coach Mark Simon’s Beaver girls basketball squad played one of its strongest defensive games of the season last Thursday, but it wasn’t enough in a 44-29 loss at Mount Horeb as Reedsburg fell to 2-8 in Badger Small action.

Beaver boys have now won 5 straight conference wrestling titles

The Reedsburg Beaver boys wrestling team has done something that no other Reedsburg Beaver sports team has done in over 40 years. The Beavers earned a share of this year’s overall title in Badger Small Wrestling after a strong showing at Saturday’s Badger Conference Tournament and that makes it five consecutive conference championship seasons.

RWD knocks off MG to highlight the week

The Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells/Mauston boys high school hockey co-op hosted its final game of the regular season last Tuesday and the opponent was one of the better teams on the RWD schedule this year, Monona Grove, who came into the game at 8-1 in the Badger Conference and still in contention for the league title.

Beaver gymnasts fare well despite injuries

Reedsburg was short-handed last week in the gymnastics room with Bridget McCormick and Audrey Matyas nursing injuries, but others stepped up and turned in solid scores in a pair of meets, one at home and one in Dodgeville.
