Spring sports begin this week for Reedsburg

Three Reedsburg Beaver spring sports teams will compete in a game or meet for the first time since 2019 next week while the Beaver boys golf team will compete twice this week as athletes and coaches are anxious to get back into the fray after not being allowed to do so last spring due to the COVID pandemic.

Youth softball players took part in skills evaluation sessions last Saturday at Nishan Park in Reedsburg and were able to work on all parts of the game in preparation for the 2021 spring and summer season on a cool, damp day.

Volleyball clinics set for grade-schoolers

The Reedsburg Volleyball Program will host four spring volleyball clinics for girls in grades three through eight.

The clinics will take place at RAHS from 9 to 11 a.m. April 17, April 24, May 15 and May 22.

The cost for each clinic attended is $10.

Pickleball season begins in Reedsburg

In June of 2020, a grandfather and his eldest grandson started playing pickleball at Oak Park, where two tennis courts had been converted to official areas for playing the sport.

With the placement of an article and picture in the local newspapers, the playing of pickleball has expanded and grown in the city of Reedsburg.

PHOTOS: Special Olympians compete in bowling tourney

Reedsburg Special Olympics had its bowling awards ceremony on April 1. The bowlers had been participating in an ongoing bowling tournament for the past seven weeks. Bowlers from various cities have been bowling at their home sites and sending in their scores each week.

River Valley’s spring sports season is beginning

The 2020 – 2021 spring sports season is now officially underway. Monday, April 19, was the start of practice for baseball, golf, softball, and track and field for River Valley High School. On Friday the golf team will travel to the Reedsburg Country Club for their first competition of the season.
