2020 was a year of many lows but there were a couple of highs in the mix.

The pandemic and elections were among the top 10 stories for our area for the year. Here’s a look back at the infamous 2020.

The first baby of the year arrived Jan. 2 at Reedsburg Area Medical Center.

Miron was born at 12:43 p.m. to Yuliia Cherednichenko and Vitalie Raileanu of Wisconsin Dells. He weighed eight pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 inches long.

He joined older sister Miriam.

There were more positive coronavirus cases—but also recoveries— in Sauk County.

Between Dec. 30 and Jan. 4, the county added 122 more positive cases. That brings the total to 4,553 positive cases ever in Sauk County.

Reedsburg Area Medical Center got an extra special Christmas gift this year.

On Dec. 24, the medical provider received its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine. It started by vaccinating its health care personnel under guidance from the CDC and FDA.
