Optimists continue tradition of honoring school district retirees

The 2026 class of Sauk Prairie School District retirees was honored at the annual Sauk Prairie Optimist Club Retiree Breakfast on May 6 at the River Arts Center Gallery. Guests were welcomed by Optimist President Carol May, followed by praise from Superintendent Jeff Wright, who introduced building administrators to speak about each retiree present. Pictured, first row, from left: Kim Prchal (teaching assistant, Tower Rock), Sue Ann Schwanke (federally funded health grant behavioral support assistant, Bridges), Kim Wood (secretary, high school), and Chanda Kulow (executive director, curriculum and instruction). Back row: Teri Case (library assistant, Bridges), Noelle Sapiro (executive director of special education and pupil services), Tracy Haupt (grade 5 teacher, Merrimac Community School), and Eric Brehm (at-risk teacher, high school). Others retiring but not present were Dennis Carlson (Grand Ave. custodian), Trisha Burch (secretary, Merrimac Community School), John Dietrich (food service baker, high school), Mark Huerth (night custodian, Bridges and District Office), and Pam Kipply (district courier and custodian). The retirees were treated to breakfast, a gift, and a plant, along with thanks for their service from the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club. Look for the annual interviews with retirees in a few weeks.
