Ten-digit dialing now in effect in Wisconsin


Ten-digit dialing is now required when making local calls. If you’re on a landline, be sure to add 1 plus the area code. On cell phones, the one is optional, but you must still use the area code. (Photo by Heather Stanek)

Wisconsinites need to remember to include area codes when making calls, even if they are trying to reach a local number.

The rule went into effect Oct. 24.
