After they were unable to send anybody to Wisconsin Rapids last season, the Reedsburg Beaver gymnasts will be represented this weekend at the WIAA State Meet in D-2. Sophomore Ellie Vielhuber is a State Meet qualifier this year for the Beavers in the balance beam, placing third in Friday’s Sectional at RAHS.
River Valley High School’s gymnasts competed for the final time this season on Saturday at a WIAA D-2 Sectional Meet in Dodgeville. It was a strong field with the top six teams all scoring 130 team points or better with River Valley bringing up the rear with 107.875 team points.
Last Tuesday’s effort was one of the best defensive games of the season for the Ithaca/Weston girls basketball squad but it wasn’t enough in the end in a 46-34 loss at Alma-Pepin in the WIAA D-5 Playoff opener for both teams.
River Valley earned a home game to begin the WIAA Tournament series in girls basketball last week and took advantage with a convincing opening round win before falling at Edgerton three nights later to end their season.
Weston closed out a crazy busy finish to the boys basketball season this past week with conference home games on Tuesday and Thursday nights against Ithaca and Seneca. Due to numerous postponements, Weston ended up playing 10 games in the month of February.
WIAA accepts applications for 2026-27 Student-Athlete Leadership Team
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) is accepting applications for its 2026-27 Student-Athlete Leadership Team, a statewide group of student-athletes who serve as ambassadors for their peers and provide input to the association.
The players and coaches associated with Badger Lightning Girls Hockey were feeling jazzed after a huge WIAA Tournament opening round win vs. Janesville on Feb. 20 as they made the trip to Sun Prairie last week for the Sectional semi-finals vs. their conference rivals, the Cap City Cougars.
Reedsburg’s first ever WIAA Girls State Wrestling Tournament competitor was in action this past Thursday and Friday at the Kohl Center in Madison. RAHS junior Chloe Roloff was in the field at 114 pounds after qualifying with a second-place finish in the Sectional at Stevens Point, making history with her two matches in Madison.
Reedsburg lost a pair of close games vs. Stoughton in the Badger Small Girls Basketball season and the two squads met again in the WIAA Tournament opener for both teams last Tuesday at Stoughton High School.
