The start was rough.
And things didn’t get much better.
Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team fell behind, 14-0, and never recovered during a 75-48 loss to Marshall on Jan. 24.
Heights fell to 5-8 overall and 1-1 in the Capitol South Conference. Marshall improved to 11-3, 3-0.
Sauk Prairie’s wrestlers finished in ninth place at the 16-team Fort Atkinson Invite last Saturday.
Sycamore won the invite with 390 points, while the Eagles finished with 208.5.

106 — Max Schroeder (29-3) placed 2nd and scored 37.5 team points.
Sauk Prairie’s girls gymnastics team was missing Claire Hartman — one of its top performers — due to sickness last Friday.
But the Eagles didn’t miss a beat.
Sauk Prairie got terrific performances up and down the lineup and defeated Baraboo, 132.275-128.875.
The Sauk Prairie co-op hockey team rolled past Stoughton, 10-3, on Jan. 23.
The Eagles — who also have players from Mount Horeb, Barneveld, River Valley and Wisconsin Heights — improved to 9-10 overall and 5-4 in the Badger Conference.
The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW) announced that 470 student-athletes from 122 high schools across the state were 2024 Academic All-State honorees. Four of them are from the Reedsburg Beaver girls golf program.
Tuesday night provided a much-needed victory for the Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells/Mauston boys high school hockey co-op, putting forth a strong effort in a 3-0 shutout of Baraboo/Portage in Baraboo in Badger Conference play.
The arrow continues to point upward for the Reedsburg Beaver gymnasts as the overall health of the roster and the performances both show steady improvement.
Monona Grove provided the opposition on Saturday for the Beaver girls basketball team, part of the eight games played Friday and Saturday in the Badger Challenge at Oregon High School.
Beaver Dam has gotten the best of the Badger Lightning skaters twice this season in Badger Conference girls hockey, including a 4-1 decision in Baraboo this past Tuesday night.
