Alliant Energy raises more than $500k to provide food for those in need

The Alliant Energy Foundation raised its largest donation ever to combat hunger.

During the annual Drive Out Hunger fundraiser, the foundation brought in $550,000 to support programs in Wisconsin and Iowa. It’s the largest donation in the 19-year history of the fundraiser. The year also included a record number of sponsors.

DOC shared health information in error

Naturally Speaking: Growing American chestnut trees

American chestnut trees are not native in Wisconsin, but will grow, at least for a while, if planted by seed or nursery stock, which is available. If the dreaded disease, chestnut blight caused by a parasitic fungus, is blown or carried in, the tree is likely to die but may stump sprout repeatedly.
