My name is Courtney Schwartzer, I'm a health care worker and I have children in the Reedsburg School District. I'm truly worried for the children in our district and the lack of full time face-to-face school they've been receiving.
Lee D. Van Landuyt's Jan. 14 letter contains many falsehoods that can't be addressed in a mere 400 words, but the opening paragraph calling the Electoral College "antiquated and fatally flawed" should have been followed by an explanation from the writer as to why it came to be that way.

Each February for the last 39 years, Reedsburg Ambulance Service has held an annual bowling tournament. We regret to say that this year will be different. With COVID-19 and its restrictions on large gatherings, we have decided to cancel our annual bowling tournament and ask you, our communities, for help.
In 2008, when Barack Obama and Joe Biden were elected, Democrats had control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. With that kind of power, a lot of things could have been quickly accomplished by pushing bills through Congress without the cooperation of Republicans.
Pretty much everyone knows about Donald Trump being suspended on Twitter. What you may not know is what’s happening to ordinary people on that platform and others.
Pages and people are being suspended or removed and apps are being deleted from the App Store and Google Play, and the reasons are foggy.
I think we are running short on empathy. That shortage underlies much of the animosity we are experiencing lately. Empathy involves being sensitive to how other people are feeling, and to what they are experiencing.
As a government reporter, I watch a lot of public meeting, from city councils and county boards, to criminal intake hearings and public listening sessions, to basically everything in-between.

New Year Resolutions
It’s still January and there’s still time for two resolutions for 2021:
#1: Let’s improve how we communicate with each other. We need to get beyond the sensationalist “news” coverage on cable shows like Fox, OAN, NEWSMAX, CNN, MSNBC, etc.
