Sauk Prairie Optimists hear from former Special Forces Green Beret

On January 7th, James Bell, US Army (retired) spoke to the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club of his time served in Afghanistan, including helping a young boy get needed medical care.  Bell spent 17 years in the Army Special Forces as a Green Beret in many countries, retiring as a Sergeant First Class.

Sauk Prairie FFA speaks to Optimists

On February 18, the officers of the Sauk Prairie Future Farmers of America (FFA) spoke to the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club, to celebrate National FFA Week.  The Agricultural Education Program in Sauk Prairie dates back to 1916, while the FFA was chartered in 1929.

Non-native snake makes a roadside appearance, draws spectators

A large, suspected python was found dead along County Highway Z in Iowa County on April 23, north of Hillside School. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office initially posted about the discovery on Facebook, asking for information. In a subsequent post, the office thanked the public “for the information and assistance provided.”

Optimists hear about Sauk Prairie High School’s Certified Nursing Assistant program

Over the winter, Caron King, an instructor at Madison College, spoke to the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club about the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Sauk Prairie High School.  Makayla Greffen and Ryann Betley, recent graduates of the program, joined King to add their perspective.

Boys Varsity Baseball team fundraises in honor of “Coach Raz”

Paul Ranzenberger was a gifted athlete who loved coaching young people, and that love was reciprocated.
