Spring brings Canada geese chicks to Reedsburg

These two Canada geese families were out for dinner Monday night near the Baraboo River in Reedsburg. It’s gosling time for Canada geese, and the average pair has four to six little ones, according to the Wisconsin DNR. They primarily feed on grass and grain. Families don’t part as soon as the goslings can fly.

La Valle farm suffers fire

An eighth-generation farming family lost its barn to a fire on April 30.

McWilliams Heritage Farm suffered a total loss of its barn. A gofundme page showed more than $8,000 in donations as of Tuesday.

Women’s Club offers incentive to donate blood

The Reedsburg Area Women’s Club and Red Cross are encouraging people to donate blood, and those who participate can get a gift card.

A blood drive will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 16 at the Reedsburg Recreation Center, which is located in the basement of Reedsburg City Hall.

Baraboo River improvements continue with new signs

More and more kayakers and canoeists have been paddling the Baraboo River in the past two years. In an effort to make using the river safer and more user friendly in Sauk County, bridge identification signs were placed late last fall.

Two Reedsburg kids complete library literacy programs

Olivia Krueger, not yet 1, and Wyatt Klaetsch, 4, just finished early literacy programs at the Reedsburg Public Library. Krueger had 100 books read to her before she turned 1 in the Babies Bloom program, and she earned a new board book. Klaetsch finished 1,000 Books before Kindergarten and earned a bookmark and an Alphabet Go Fish card game.

Reedsburg Prom is May 7


Reedsburg Area High School announced its 2022 prom court. The Reedsburg Area High School Class of 2023 will hold Prom on May 7. The event is open to RAHS juniors and seniors. This year’s theme is Meet Me in the Garden.

It will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at the varsity gym, with the grand march at 8:30 p.m.

Reedsburg Choir presents spring show

The Reedsburg Area Community Choir will perform in honor of Mother’s Day.

The show will begin at 3 p.m. May 8 at the CAL Center.

The choir has more than 25 singers from across the region and is directed by Bill Voigt. A variety of songs will be performed.

Parents warned to be alert for underage drinking as graduation season arrives

The end of the school year is right around the corner, bringing with it graduations and related celebrations.

It may be a festive time, but parents and guardians still need to do all they can to prevent underage drinking, which is a problem in Sauk County.
