Obituary: Harvey W. Raasch

Harvey W. Raasch, 87, of Muskego and formerly of Reedsburg passed away on January 10, 2024 at Ruth Hospice in West Allis with his family at his side. Harvey was born in Medford on July 30, 1936. He graduated from Owen High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army.
He married Anita (nee Hinsa) in 1959. They raised their family in Milwaukee and Muskego before settling in Reedsburg for retirement. Harvey worked at Bucyrus Erie and Falk Corp. as a machinist for many years.
Harvey hunted with friends and family in northern Wisconsin for over 50 years. He took pride in maintaining beautiful lawns and vegetable gardens, and loved visiting with his neighbors. He walked every morning. He was a Wisconsin sports fan. Harvey bowled in leagues, played pool, enjoyed coffee and breakfast with friends, and cherished time spent with his family. He doted on the family dogs.
Harvey was preceded in death seven months earlier by his wife Anita of nearly 64 years. He is survived by daughters Alicia Mills, Stephanie (Curt) Heitl, and Michelle (Randy) Byom, twin granddaughters Brittany Mills (Phil Mueller) and Bethany Mills, and grandsons Sam Heitl, Ben and Zach Byom, and great-grandchildren Isaac and Ava. He is also survived by his brother Ronald (Alice Hinsa) Nichols, and sister Shirley Becken, brothers-in-law Edward (Georgia) Hinsa and Russell (Wendy) Hinsa, and his nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by parents William and Anne (nee Heybl) Kapke and Louis and Esther (nee Nelson) Raasch, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Florence Nelson, brother-in-law Wesley Becken, nephew Rick Nelson, and niece Krista Caley Hinsa.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Bevsek-Verbick Funeral Home, W195 S6610 Racine Avenue, Muskego, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow.
