Slow down, move over when driving near an accident

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation reminds motorists to be mindful around accidents and other roadside incidents during National Traffic Incident Response Week.

Every year, an average 145,000 crashes occur in Wisconsin, and many of these require an emergency response due to property damage and injuries.

Drivers are advised to slow down and move over, if possible, when a responder has emergency lights flashing.

If you are involved in a crash and there are no injuries, try to drive your vehicle to the shoulder, side of the road or other safe place out of the flow of traffic.
