Mary Ann E. Steep Mary Ann E. Steep, age 88, of Spring Green and formerly of Argyle passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the UW Hospital in Madison.  The Argyle community sadly lost a nurturing volunteer when she passed.  Mary Ann was widely known throughout the community during her 23 years of volunteer service at the Argyle Elementary School as a Foster Grandparent.  In 2019 she received the Governor’s Service Award for senior corps volunteer of the year in recognition of significant service to the people of Wisconsin. Children were her biggest joy in life and she was thrilled to work with all of them, especially the next generation from her early students.  When not busy helping or guiding others she enjoyed embroidery, sewing and participating in the annual craft fair. Throughout her life she was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, holding many offices at the state and local levels.  Her work years were spent as a bookkeeper in the medical and construction fields.  Mary Ann was born on May 29, 1932, the daughter of John B. and Eleanor Dorothy (Waldoch) Jarmuz in Milwaukee, where she was raised and then graduated from Riverside High School.  In 1995 she moved to rural Argyle on her daughter’s farm where she remained until 2020 when she moved to Spring Green.  Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Christine Clement and Tom Schmitz of Spring Green; a sister, Susann Weishaar of Kenosha and her three children, Christopher, William, and Michelle; a brother, Michael (Marianne) Jarmuz of Campbellsport, and their three children, Shawn, David and Brian; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eleanor Jarmuz; her loving husband, Paul Steep; and her younger brother, William Jarmuz.  Mary Ann will especially be remembered as loving Godmother and adopted mom to Theresa (Jeff) Wroblewski and special loving grandma-on-the-farm to Kelly (Steven) Recker, Kimberly Wroblewski, Jesse (Kelsey) Wroblewski, Jason (Meg) Wroblewski and loving great-grandma to two.  Her legacy of kindness will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met. A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the Wood National Cemetery, Milwaukee.  The service will also be live-streamed through our website and Facebook page.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her life may make a memorial in her name to the Argyle American Legion Auxiliary for an educational scholarship.         Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.
