Obituaries

Helen A. Smith Helen A. Smith, age 95, of Richland Center and formerly of Lone Rock, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Our House Memory Care following an extended illness.  She was born on June 28, 1926, the daughter of Oscar and Emilie (Danz) Gutknecht.  Helen was married on October 29, 1950, to Kenneth W. Smith.  She was a longtime grade school teacher for River Valley Schools and a member of the Lone Rock Community Congregational Church.  Survivors include her children, Kenrick (Kathy) Smith of Hollywood, Florida, Kenda Smith of Richland Center; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Gutknecht; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Emilie Gutknecht; four siblings, Milton Gutknecht, Vera Grover, Ora and Carl Gutknecht.   Funeral services were held on Friday, July 16, 2021, at the Brown Church in Bear Valley.  Rev. Craig Peach officiated with burial in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Friends of the Brown Church.  Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com.  The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
